Alexandra S. Ward

Ms. Ward was born and raised in Riverside, California. She graduated from the University of California at Riverside in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Ms. Ward attended the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review, and graduated in 1982.

Ms. Ward began her legal career at the law firm of Reid, Babbage & Coil, a highly respected litigation firm located in Riverside, California. In 1985, Reid, Babbage & Coil merged with the San Bernardino law firm, Surr & Hellyer, forming Reid & Hellyer, the first major law firm with offices in both Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Ms. Ward became a shareholder in Reid & Hellyer in 1987, a position she occupied until early 1994 when she and her husband, William J. Ward, formed Ward & Ward.

Throughout her legal career, Ms. Ward has handled numerous business and real estate disputes, construction-related disputes, and commercial collection matters. She has tried both bench and jury trials and has participated in the arbitration and mediation of many disputes. Ms. Ward is very knowledgeable in all phases of civil trial procedure as well as in the substantive law applicable to the areas in which she practices.

In addition to her trial practice, Ms. Ward is recognized as one of the premier appellate attorneys in the Inland Empire. Ms. Ward is certified as an Appellate Law specialist by the State Bar of California and is regularly consulted by outside trial counsel in Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Orange Counties regarding appellate practice and procedures. Ms. Ward has handled scores of appeals and has had numerous published decisions in appellate cases, including the decisions of Barer v. County of Riverside (1997) 57 Cal.App.4th 558 [67 Cal.Rptr.2d 241], Dieterich International Truck Sales, Inc. v. J.S. & J. Services, Inc. (1992) 3 Cal.App.4th 1601 [5 Cal.Rptr.2d 338], and Ramona Manor Convalescent Hospital v. Care Enterprises (1986) 177 Cal.App.3d 1120 [225 Cal.Rptr.120].

Ms. Ward is admitted to practice law in the State of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Central District of California (federal court), and is a member of the Riverside and San Bernardino County Bar Associations. Ms. Ward serves as a mediator for both the Court of Appeal for the State of California, Fourth Appellate District, Division Two, and Riverside Superior Court, and as a judge pro tem for the San Bernardino Municipal and Superior Courts.

Ms. Ward is happily married and has two lovely daughters, Sarah and Emily.
